Offshore wind farm model - 1 GW, 100km
We’re excited to present a offshore wind farm model with 1 GW rated power, with 100 km cable route length (between offshore and onshore substation). This model can be used to explore and adapt, thanks to open-source software at https://electrisim.com/ which you can use on a web-browser (no installation needed).
Key improvements in Rev 4 (16.04.2026)
- Replaced two-winding transformers with three-winding transformers at the onshore and offshore substations.
- Tap-changer controllers for transformers and shunt reactors implemented.
- Q–P characteristic curves added for wind turbine generators.
🔍 What’s special about this model?
- Fully customizable: Adjust parameters to suit your needs.
- Comprehensive analysis: Perform load flow and short-circuit calculations.
- Perfect for electrical/power system/T&D engineers or researchers.
💡Technical assumptions
- 15 MW wind turbines
- 2 offshore substations and 2 cable lines
- 66 kV inter-array cable network
- 275 kV cable lines
- 400 kV cable lines
- 400 kV – grid connection point in the Grid
- 66/275 kV offshore substations with three-winding transformers (with on-load tap changer) and fixed shunt reactors
- 275/400 kV onshore substation with three-winding transformers (with on-load tap changer), variable shunt reactors, STATCOM and harmonic filters.
